Caught in the Web

July/August 08 - Nostalgia

Welcome to our regular round up of astrology on the Internet. There is no doubt that there is a lot of good astrology and astrological information to be found on the World Wide Web, but equally some are not so good. Each issue we will be looking at some of the better astrology sites and astrological communities on the Internet.

I wonder what the founders of the Astrological Association would make of the Internet as we know it today? There is no doubt that it has changed how we are able to access astrological knowledge. Indeed the information and techniques that are to be found on the web are many, although the quality can be variable. This variation is precisely why there is still a place for the Astrological Association in today's world. Through its conference, seminars, publications and website the AA continues to ensure that high quality astrology is available to all. With this in mind I will continue to try and find the best astrology sites on the web to share with you.

AA Gold

For 50 years the Astrological Association has been renowned for its publications. These publications continue to hold strong in today’s world of high technology. These days the AA has of course also got its own place in the world of technology with its ever expanding website. Publications and technology marry well on the following listing, which is dedicated to AA publications. The links on this page lead to information about each publication as well as sample articles in some cases.

Astrologers of the Past

There have been many exceptional astrologers in the last 50 years, some sadly no longer with us. There is an excellent memorial site to astrologers who are no longer with us created by Donna Cunningham. Over 300 astrologers are listed, some well known and some not so well known. Amongst the tributes are some to the founder members of the AA. This is an ‘interactive’ site in that the site developer welcomes any memories and/or pictures of the astrologers listed. Browse the tributes for some lasting memories of the gone, but not forgotten, astrological greats.

Eminent World Astrologers

The criteria on this website is astrologers who “have made notably unique and positive contributions, published in the English language, toward the advancement of astrological understanding …” A variety of names on this page with currently practicing astrologers listed alongside astrologers who are no longer with us. This one is worth checking out for the biographies of the astrologers listed in the banner at the top of the page including amongst others Al H. Morrison, Dane Rudhyar and Alfred Witte.

Pure Nostalgia

Finally, just for fun and to see how things have changed since the 1950’s when the Astrological Association was first founded, visit this non-astrological site. The site covers social history, music, and films encompassing the decades from the 50’s through to the 80’s and truly is a trip down memory lane.
