Caught in the Web

May/June 08 - Astrological Articles

Welcome to our regular round up of astrology on the Internet. There is no doubt that there is a lot of good astrology and astrological information to be found on the World Wide Web, but equally some are not so good. Each issue we will be looking at some of the better astrology sites and astrological communities on the Internet.

So you've finished reading your Journal and you are hungry for more astrological articles. Where do you go next? If you too are an addict then the answer is; “The Internet” There are many articles to be found out there on every astrological subject you can think of, and probably some you haven't. Internet articles range from simple to advanced and from bad to excellent. As a Journal reader you will want to read astrological articles of the same high quality that you're used to. With this in mind I've selected some of my favourite web articles for you to read.

Solstice/antisicia points

Darrelyn Gunzburg's website http://www.darrelyngunzburg.com carries a host of excellent articles. One of my particular favourites is: "Solstice and Antiscia Points: The Space in Your Chart". Here Darrelyn demonstrates how antiscia points are a critical factor in relationships. The article gives a clear explanation of antiscia points (sometimes called Solstice points,) and why they are relevant in our relationships. Also included is a useful antiscia conversion table. Because the article opens in PDF format I'll direct you to Darrelyn's articles page where you can open the file to read it and enjoy.

Astrology on Screen

Paul Wright's website:http://www.wrightastrology.com also carries one of my favourite articles. Astrology on screen, parts 1 & 2 In these articles Paul reflects on, and demonstrates how, actors often display the astrology of their charts through the characters they are portraying. Again Paul's articles open in PDF format so I will direct you to his list of articles. Paul's site is still growing so I'm sure there will be more top quality articles to come.

Astrological House Significations

Curtis Manwaring's website http://www.astrology-x-files. is a treasure trove of discovery, particularly if you are interested in traditional and Hellenistic astrology. Although there don't seem to be many recent articles what is there will keep you occupied for quite a while. One of my favourites is Astrological House Significations, which looks at each house from a traditional perspective. With separate chapters for each house and including a section for the planets in or as lord of each house, this is a great learning tool.

Honourable Mentions

It's a shame that there are simply too many websites with good articles to list them all. I'll leave you here with a few honourable mentions

StarIQ StarIQ is a comprehensive astrology site run by Rick Levine and Jeff Jawyer. The site can be likened to a library full of as many articles as you could wish for. Indeed there are fifteen categories in their Article Library, each of which leads to a wealth of articles by many top astrologers.

Astrology in the Year Zero Garry Phillipson's excellent website is based on his book of the same title. There are many articles to be found here as well as fascinating interviews with many well-known astrologers.

Café Astrology Although this is a commercial site it has articles on many aspects of astrology. This is an ideal place to start off if you are just learning astrology with articles on each planet, sign and house, each clearly described and explained. But look a bit deeper and you will find articles on celebrities, synastry, progressions and much more.
