Roy Gillett BEd (Hons Ldn) ACII.
Roy has been a full-time astrologer since 1976 and has studied, taught and advised clients world-wide. Roy was Chair of the AA from 1994-99 and has been President since. He has been organising astrology conferences for 25 years, including most AA conferences since 1994, often cooperating internationally. Roy published daily astro-diaries between 1978-90 and now writes the AA Journal's "Working with the Planets". He has written A Model of Health, Zen for Today's Living and The Essence of Buddhism, studied the astrology of financial markets, supports Astrolabe and Solar Fire astro-software and has appeared widely on the broadcast media. Roy campaigns to improve Ofcom's guidelines for astrology in the media and helps English Heritage organise equinox/solstice dawn access to Stonehenge.
Nick Campion PhD, DMSAstrol.
Nick has been a student of the stars since 1965. A former President of the AA and the Astrological Lodge, his first love is the past, and trying to work out how we got to where we are now, a question which is usually without an answer. He began to study the history of astrology while he was an undergraduate, on discovering that, while astrology was once central to western thought, none of his tutors seemed to think this was interesting. These days he is course director of the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at Bath Spa University, where he also teaches History of the Occult to history undergraduates and contemporary New Age and Paganism to Study of Religions undergraduates.
Wendy Stacey, BA, MA, Dip LSA.
Wendy has been practising Astrology since 1989, and started teaching in 1991. Wendy’s passion for the past decade has been exploring correlations between childbirth methods and astrology. Wendy joined the AA council in 1999 as Treasurer and is a teacher for the London School of Astrology. Wendy has a background in finance, race relations, housing and education and is the owner/manager of a West London property development company. She is also the proud mother of two children.
Kate Czerny DMS, MCMI, Dip LSA.
Kate has a background in Management. She was a senior manager in both the private and public sector for many years. Kate then began to study Astrology with the Faculty of Astrological Studies, gaining the Faculty's Certificate and four of their Diploma papers. She went on to complete her Diploma with the London School of Astrology. Kate was Membership Secretary and Conference Administrator for the Astrological Association for a number of years. She enjoyed the contact with members and was pleased to join the AA Council when she retired as Membership Secretary, in order to represent members as well as support Astrology and a very worthwhile organisation. Kate's passions are History, Astrology and Philosophy and she has begun studying Hellenistic Astrology in order to deepen her knowledge and understanding of these interests.
James Brockbank, BA, MA, Dip WESA, QHP, QPMA.
James lives in London and is a graduate of Oxford University, Bath Spa University, the White Eagle School of Astrology and is a qualified horary and medieval astrology practitioner. He has been studying astrology for over ten years and he has a particular interest in medieval and Hellenistic techniques. James is currently working on a PhD in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at Bath Spa University College.
Alice Ekrek, BA, MA.
Alice started studying astrology after graduating in History in 1996. She participated in a humanistic astrology group in the Czech Republic whilst teaching English there in 1998. After returning to the UK she completed an MA in Religious Studies; her final dissertation was on ‘Concepts of Spirituality in Psychological Astrology’. She joined the AA Council in 2002 and became Secretary in 2004. Alice has a varied background in teaching English as a foreign language, publishing and administrative roles.
Glenda Cole
Glenda began her study of astrology in 1981. She is chair of the Suffolk Astrological Society, a long running astrology group based in Bury St Edmunds. Glenda has had articles printed in the Astrological Journal and Transit. She has lectured at various local groups and at the 2006 AA conference, where her subject matter caught the eye of a reporter from the Independent newspaper. One of Glenda's main roles on the AA Council is that of Local Groups Co-ordinator to which she brings her long running experience and passion for promoting local astrology groups
Andy Gray
Andy is a professional consultant Astrologer and Psychic Tarot reader for over 8 years. He was Secretary to the Astrological Association of Great Britain from 2001-2004. He has worked as a regular consultant on the Liveline since 1999, and recently spent six months on the BBC’s Nick Pandolfi Show. He is a senior BT innovations designer by profession and, in his spare time, designs and develops portals and astrological services for mobile phone and content providers throughout Europe, including Microsoft MSN, Jubii, Spray, World-of-Wisdom, Egmont, the Evening Standard and Daily Mirror.
Chris Mitchell
Chris is a consulting astrologer who teaches astrology at the Bristol School of Astrology, helps run Arcturus Rising, Bristol's astrology group, and is keen on promoting astrology at a local and national level. Chris is a regular speaker at many local groups, and has appeared on local radio and in the local press. He's also active in astrology's online communities, writing regular articles for Mystic Wicks, a pagan-oriented website and moderates Node-o-Rama, an online forum for astrology students. As a computer programmer by day, he's also had a number of ephemerides published in the UK and Japan, and worked with DAV, the German astrological association, to make their database available online. He has a Diploma in Medieval Astrology from Astrologos, and is currently studying for an MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. Chris's role on Council is as Advertising Manager and helping to promote the Astrological Association.
Frances Clynes
Frances began learning astrology in classes at the Irish Astrological Association (IAA) in September 1987, and became a committee member in 1988, and secretary in 1989. During her time on the committee, she went on to serve in other roles, including fund-raiser. She teaches astrology in Dublin where she also gives lectures and organises seminars, and has also given talks in Bath, Bristol and London.
She has recently been awarded the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology from Bath Spa University, is just beginning a Ph D with Nick Campion at the University of Wales at Lampeter, and is currently finishing her Diploma from the Faculty of Astrology Studies. In her other life she has a B. Sc. and a M. Sc. from Trinity College Dublin and works as a computing lecturer in a Dublin college.
John Dawson
John S. Dawson BSc Hon (Open) has studied astrology for over 25 years. He used to work as a research technician at his native Leeds University before moving to St Annes near Blackpool in 1991. His main interests are mundane and medieval astrology and he is currently working on two books covering the eras of Richard III and Charles I, which concentrate on discovering just how much of an influence medieval and early modern astrologers had in the political decision making process. He is a member of ISAR and the Astrological Association and has written articles for both of their Journals. He is also Publicity Officer for the Northern Lights Astrological Society in Blackpool and has been a member since 1992, where he actively promotes the club and helps in its running. John gives regular talks at the club and at other local astrology and New Age clubs, aimed at both the novice and advanced astrologers, and writes regular articles for the Club's quarterly newsletter, Icarus.
