The pictures below show the group at the Stonehenge Summer Solstice Sunset Ceremony. Shortly after the photos were taken, AA President Roy Gillett was able to speak of the Association’s 50 years work, which was greeted by three resounding cheers from a thousand or more voices.
Later, at the actual moment of the Solar Return (10.24 pm on 20th June 2008), Association members gathered with others at the Heel Stone for a circle of statements honouring the Association that climaxed in further cheers.
In spite of a difficult weather forecast, there was little more than a light drizzle for the majority of a most stimulating and enjoyable night. AA members from Ireland, Scotland, Midlands, the West Country and London, plus the more than 30,000 other people who made the journey, had a most remarkable time.
