The philosophical turmoil of Pluto’s recent transit through Sagittarius included a revisioning of the Solar System, on a scale not seen since the Copernican Revolution. We consider the cosmological, mythological and also the very personal aspects of Pluto entering Capricorn, looking at both its pitfalls and possibilities within our individual lives. We explore the ancient symbol of the sea-goat as Capricorn’s zodiacal creature, and shape inwardly with our imagination the receptacle for these energies. As Pluto brings its refining pressure to bear on the parts of our chart ruled by Capricorn, what happens when the Lord of the Underworld moves through this earthiest of signs … ?

Melanie was born in Zimbabwe, whose night skies inspired her vocation of astrology in 1959. She holds a B.A. Degree in English, Music and Drama (Cape Town), and has been a professional astrologer since 1975. She is a prize-winning Diploma-holder of the Faculty of Astrological Studies, and received the prestigious Charles Harvey Award in 2004. She has taught for some of the world's leading astrology schools in the UK and abroad, and has also presented original research material at many international conferences; she maintains a busy practice with an international clientele. Melanie writes regularly for 'Caduceus' magazine, and books published include: 'Chiron and the Healing Journey', 'Chiron, Saturn and the Centaurs' and 'Incarnation'. She also contributed to the anthology 'The Mars Quartet'. Melanie has wide experience of spiritual teachings and therapeutic methods both physical and psychological, and has a special interest in meditative experience as a healing modality, especially using music.
