The 2008 AA Conference will be held at Staverton Conference Park, Daventry, Northamptonshire, between 19-21 September, with optional workshops on 22 September. The venue offers excellent facilities, accommodation and dining and the conference boasts an excellent range of speakers, including:

Lynne Bell, Bernadette Brady, Geoffrey Cornelius, Darby Costello, Robert Currey, Martin Davis, Ben Dykes, John Etherington, Sasha Fenton, Liz Greene, John Green, Mike Harding, Michael Lutin, Chris Mitchell, Alan Oken, Lindsay Radermacher, Luis Ribeiro with Helena Avelar, Komilla Sutton, Sue Tompkins & speakers from various APAE schools and organisations.

As well as honouring the Carter Memorial Lecture with cameo talks from six previous presenters, we will be linking with Robert Hand at The Blast conference in Arizona, USA on Friday 19th September. Also, we will be holding an Astrologers’ Feast on the Saturday. Expect lots of surprises at this event, plus a pre-dinner panel with founder-member Dr Mary Austin, Helen Hain (a member since 1959) and others. This will be chaired by the long-standing AA ex-Vice President Chester Kemp.

This year, to honour long-standing AA members, friends and supporters, we would like to offer anyone who became a member of the AA in 1969 or before a heavily subsidised HALF PRICE discount to attend our residential conference. Please contact the office for details.

Anyone who would like to share a taxi from Northampton or Rugby train stations, please get in touch with the office and we will try to match you with others arriving at the same time.

>AA Birthday and Solar Return Celebrations

The AA’s 50th Solar Return was celebrated on the evening of 20th June, with a special dedication at Stonehenge. On the anniversary itself, on 21 June, astrologers and friends of the AA gathered together at the Union Pub in Marylebone, near the location where the AA was founded, to reminisce and toast the future. AA Event Day with Robin Heath: If Astrology is from Uranus why are so many Astrologers from Saturn?

The next AA Event Day will be held on Saturday 12 July, 10:30-16:30, at the Lawrence House Astronomy and Space Science Centre in Fleetwood. In this one-day workshop, Robin will take an alternative and controversial look at what the solar system is up to and why he thinks astrologers need to adapt their perspectives on the nature and purpose of our relationship with the sky.

Kepler Day Research Conference: The Social Sciences and Humanities Investigate the Value of Astrology and its Future

This year’s Kepler Day Research Conference will take place on Saturday 22 November 2008, 10am-5pm, at Connaught Hall, 36-45 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9EX. It is being organised and sponsored by the Sophia Centre, University of Wales, Lampeter, the Research Group for the Critical Study of Astrology and the Astrological Association. The conference is a forum for research in astrology in the humanities and social sciences, with speakers and discussion. The price is £10 for AA members, + £10 day membership fee for non-AA members (Please note, for students who are not members of the AA, the £10 day membership fee will be covered by the sponsors. Proof of student status will need to be shown at registration on the day).

AA Event Day with Melanie Reinhart: Pluto Enters Capricorn: Transforming the Field of Fear?

This event day with Melanie Reinhart will take place on Saturday 29 November 2008, from 10.30-16.30 at Bosham House, Bosham, Chichester, PO18 8PJ. The cost of the seminar is £35 for AA members (£30 early-bird price for members who book before 30th Sept 2008). Temporary membership is available for £10 for non-AA members who wish to attend.
