Local Groups Report
by Glenda Cole
I was having a conversation recently about whether the Internet has had an affect on local group attendance. Certainly there are many places to discuss astrology, My view is that although the Internet has a lot of good information you can’t beat sitting face-to-face with another astrologer, chart, pen and notebook in hand, both speaking the same language.
Having said that, the Internet is an ideal place for networking and to promote your group, via, a website, mailing list or discussion forum. Or if you don’t have a nearby group then it is ideal to reach out to other astrologers on your area. The Internet is here to say so it is up to us to make sure it works for us.
I''ve started a discussion on this very fact at the AA forum at www.astrologicalassociation.com/forum. Why not pop in and add your view?
Of course if you prefer the face-to-face method then the AA conference is the ideal place for this and the best place for networking. As always I am looking forward to seeing some of you face-to-face again and to meeting new faces. We will be having a local group display as usual so that you can promote your group, so don’t forget to bring your literature with you.
Another recent discussion centred on the conference It seems that some people feel that the conference is for professional or experienced astrologers only. This couldn’t be further from the truth! The conference is aimed at all levels of the astrological community, from beginner to professional, think of it as a local group meeting but on a larger scale.
We will be offering cheese and wine again at the conference’s local group meeting. If you missed it last year you missed a fun and informative get together with local group members from all around the country. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at Wyboston Lakes 7th – 9th September
