ModeratorDear Conference Attendee
Due to a train strike on the East Midlands railway on the Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th September (which also means Friday 18th might be impacted) we encourage you to book your travel in advance before tickets become unavailable and/or expensive. We have listed some links below which might be helpful.
Please use this forum to communicate if you have room in your car to take anyone to the venue, or require a lift, or to communicate about taxi sharing from Nottingham station or East Midlands airport.
We advise people travelling by train to arrive at Nottingham station. There is a closer station (Langley Mill) but this has limited service and no taxi service.
Thank you in advance and look forward to seeing you very soon!
Wendy Stacey & Karen BreretonTrains: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ EMR is open for Friday booking. We encourage people to book if you are travelling Friday as although trains are running, this day will be impacted by the previous two days.
Coach options:
Flixbus: https://www.flixbus.co.uk – this will immediately bring up a page where you can enter your starting point and destination. Flixbus gives you the option of going from London Victoria Coach Station, which takes between 3 and 3.5 hours, or if you know your way round London you can book one from Finchley Road tube station, which takes about 2.5 hours (this is because it is painfully slow in the traffic in central London, so catching it from north London cuts the time down considerably). Prices are currently very low, starting at £4.99 – but that’s only if you book soon. If you are travelling from London Heathrow Airport, make sure you select London Heathrow Airport rather than London. From the airport, Flixbus is much cheaper currently, and generally faster.National Express: https://www.nationalexpress.com – this will immediately bring up a page where you can enter your starting point and destination. If you enter London and then choose “LONDON (Most Popular)” you get a choice of both London Victoria Coach Station and London Golders Green. The coach to Nottingham that leaves London Victoria heads north and goes via Golders Green, so you have the option of picking up the coach there for a shorter journey time. The price is the same, though (£20.90), and only choose Golders Green if you know your way around London. Victoria Coach Station is the major terminal and the starting point, so there is no way of missing your coach watching it whizz past you – there is that danger at Golders Green! From, Victoria station it will take approx 3.5 hours to Nottingham.

ParticipantHello all – my train arrives into Nottingham Train Station (via a change in Derby) at 13:22 on THURSDAY 17TH SEPT. If anyone is passing this way with a car and willing to offer a lift for a petrol contribution, this would be brilliant (and appreciated). Or a taxi type carshare? Looking forward to an inspiring few days! x Karen
